In the Krefelder Summer Open 2024 on July 31, Jonathan Eichert, playing with the black pieces, made the move Qc7. This move unfortunately overlooked several opportunities. By playing Qc7, Eichert missed the chance to present a threat that could have been advantageous. The move also ignored a more potent threat that could have been pursued. It failed to reveal a potential attack on one of White’s pieces, and Eichert missed a favorable piece exchange that could have benefited his position. Additionally, the move did not offer a better escape from the current attack or a chance to evade it altogether. The opportunity to secure a favorable material exchange was also missed, as was the chance to compel a response from White. Finally, the move did little to advance the development of Black’s pieces, making it a missed opportunity for more active play.
