In the Fagernes Chess GM-Swiss 2025 event on 2025.04.16, Gasland,Lukas Dominik played a move that could have been more impactful: Qh6+. This move follows up on a previous capture, but instead of pressing the advantage, it fails to take full control of the board by ignoring an opportunity for a stronger attack.
It also misses the chance to reveal a larger threat by not using this move to force Hausken,Andreas Skrede's piece into a more vulnerable position. By doing so, Lukas Dominik overlooks a better knight maneuver that could have been more effective in the long run.
On the positive side, Qh6+ does gain a tempo advantage by quickly developing the queen and putting pressure on Black's position. However, this move also creates a fork, attacking multiple pieces at once, which may not be the most efficient use of the piece development.
Furthermore, Lukas Dominik develops his queen for active play, but perhaps could have done so with a more effective move that would have put Hausken,Andreas Skrede on the back foot earlier in the game.
